Independent semiconductor test interfaces

Test interface problems solved. Custom sockets built. The IP stays yours.

Precicon Engineering is an independent specialist for semiconductor test interfaces — contactors, sockets, DIBs, docking, and strip-test systems. Patent-backed design, delivered as documentation you own. Sockets built fast through qualified fabrication partners — or through your own supply chain. No equipment-vendor ties. No lock-in.

The gap

When the interface is the bottleneck, your options are all compromised

The equipment vendor proposes solutions tuned to their own hardware — on their timeline, with their IP terms. The socket catalog doesn't have your package, your pitch, or your temperature range. Your internal team is stretched keeping the floor running. And the one independent engineering firm the industry trusted was acquired by an equipment manufacturer.

Meanwhile: yield is drifting on a contacting problem, the new package has no socket, or the ramp is stalling on an interface nobody has bandwidth to solve properly. That gap — between vendor lock-in and internal overload — is exactly where we work.

What we do

Interface Design Engagements

Root-cause diagnostics and complete custom design packages for test interfaces: contactors, DIBs, docking, strip-test, thermal. Delivered as CAD, BOMs, and integration documentation you own outright.

Custom Test Sockets

Application-specific test and burn-in sockets — fine-pitch, high-current, high-temperature, Kelvin — designed by a 10-patent socket inventor and built through qualified fabrication partners in Singapore. Or take the design package and build it yourself.

Why us

The independence the industry just lost — with the build capability it never had

For decades the industry had one trusted independent test engineering firm — until an equipment manufacturer acquired it. That independence mattered: solutions chosen on merit, IP that stayed protected, no hardware agenda steering the advice.

We're built on that principle, with one addition the old model never offered: when you need a finished socket, we can deliver one — through fabrication partners we've qualified, not a captive factory with a lock-in agenda. And because you receive the complete design package with every build, you're never dependent on us for the next order.

  • Independent of every equipment vendor.
  • You own everything — CAD, drawings, BOMs, on every engagement including socket builds; no royalties, ever.
  • Patent-backed, not claimed — 10 patents, publicly verifiable.

How it works

Scope. Design. Own it.

  1. 01

    Scope

A short technical call — engineer to engineer. For sockets: send the package spec and receive a feasibility answer within days.

  2. 02

    Design

Complete mechanical design with review cycles. Diagnostics run two weeks; design packages typically six to eight; socket designs usually faster.

  3. 03

    Own it

Take delivery of the built sockets, the complete design package, or both. Manufacture anywhere, forever, without us.

FAQ

Common questions

Are you affiliated with any equipment or socket vendor?
No. Fully independent — no ATE, prober, handler, or socket-catalog affiliation. Fabrication partners build to our designs under our quality oversight; they hold no IP, and neither do we after delivery. You do.
Who owns the socket design if you build it?
You do — completely. Every socket order includes the full design package. Second-source the next batch anywhere, including your own supply chain.
What platforms and packages do you cover?
All major test platforms (V93K, ETS88, ultraFLEX, T2000, precioXL and others). Packages from fine-pitch CSP/WLCSP through power modules; contacting from 0.1N-per-pin delicate devices to 1000N-class burn-in strips.
How fast can you deliver a socket?
Feasibility and quote within 5 business days. Design plus first articles typically four to eight weeks depending on complexity.
What does an engagement cost?
Every project is quoted on scope after a short technical conversation — diagnostics are fixed-fee and credited toward follow-on work, design packages are quoted with a clear deliverable list, sockets receive a free budgetary quote from your spec. No surprises, no open-ended billing.
